(born May 3, 1960), also known as "Freeway" Ricky Ross , is a drug trafficker best known for the"drug empire" that he presided over in Los Angelas, in the early 1980s. The nickname "Freeway" came from Ross owning several properties along the Harbor Freeway.During the height of his drug dealing, Ross claims to have made "2-3 million dollars a week".

In 1996, Ross was sentenced to life inprisonment after being convicted of trying to purchase more than 100 kilograms of cocaine from a federal agent. Ross became the subject of controversy later that year when a series of articles by journalist Gary Webb in the San Jose Mercury News brought to light a connection between one of Ross's cocaine sources, Danilo Balndon and the CIA as part of the Iran-Contra scandal. The decision in Ross's case was brought to a Federal Court of Appealswhere his sentence was reduced to 20 years. His sentence has since been reduced further for being a model prisoner and he is currently scheduled to be moved to a halfway house in California in March 2009, and to be released on September 29, 2009.

With thousands of employees, Ross claimed he operated drug sales not only in Los Angeles but in places across the country including St. Louis, New Orleans, Texas, Kansas City, Oklahoma, Indiana, Cincinnati, South Carolina, Baltimore, Cleveland, and Seattle. He has said many times that his most lucrative amounts of money came from the Ohio area. He made similar claims in a 1996.

He got his rap name from Los Angeles drug kingpin "Freeway" Rick Ross, who ran one of the largest crack-cocaine distribution networks in the country during the '80s and early '90s.

William Roberts openly claims that he did not get his name from this individual at all. Hmmmm-so I guess he just made it up,uh...yeah that's it.

William Roberts had a brief stint on Suave House Records, former label of Eightball & MJG, before he ended up on Miami-based Slip-N-Side Records, the label home of Trick Daddy and Trina. During the early to mid-2000s, he became popular and well known locally through touring with Trick Daddy and guest-appearing on a few Slip-N-Slide releases, but didn't release any solo material until 2006. Once "Hustlin'" caught the ear of a few executives within the national industry, a bidding war ensued that included offers from Bad Boy CEO Sean "Diddy" Combs and The Inc. (formerly Murder Inc.) president Irv Gotti. Nonetheless, Def Jam president and veteran rapper Jay-Z signed Ross to a multi-million-dollar deal.

HE SAID QUOTE:

"Online hackers put my face when I was a teenager in high school on other peoples' body," said William. "If this shit was real don't you think they would have more specifics, like dates and everything? Fake pictures are created by the fake, meant to entertain the fake."

In subsequent interviews, William would go on to blame the uncovered photos on everything from digital manipulation to "haters." But in the latest issue of Don Diva magazine, the Florida emcee changes course regarding his pre-rap career.

"Yes, it's me," William Roberts tells Don Diva. "I never tried to hide my past. I put my name inside my CDs. My company has my [Social Security number]. I could've put a company name...I done been up and I done been down and that's what makes me what I am. I never ratted on a nigga. I never prosecuted a nigga. I never locked up a nigga, that's first and foremost. I always felt that me being the nigga that I am, I never owed a nigga an explanation. When I'm making my music and I'm talking about blow, it's because I did it. When I say that I'm rich off cocaine, it's because I did it. Those are the street principals that apply."

In his album which releases in April,he raps about Trick Daddy as having AIDS & not LUPUS all because Trick Daddy spoke of his (Correctional Officer career which he admits to).In fact Miami rapper Trick Daddy has stated that he has been suffering from LUPUS DISORDER for the past 10 years,which indeed is absolutly no laughing matter.

Of these, systemic lupus erythematosus is the most common and serious form of lupus.

William Roberts' album: DEEPER THAN RAP includes artists such as Ne-Yo,Robin Thicke,T-Pain,John Legend,Foxy Brown and many more. It truly lacks originality and style.The album is more of an R & B cd rather than Rap album.It is overly done using everybody in the book to try and gloss over his poor delivery of skills and overall weak persona.

We were dismayed to see the cover of the May 2009 issue of XXL Magazine, which features a photo of Rick Ross wearing a pair of sunglasses prominently featuring counterfeit Louis Vuitton trademarks. Because the photo has generated considerable confusion among your readers and Louis Vuitton customers among others, we feel it is important to clarify several points.

The first is that the sunglasses Mr. Ross is wearing were not made by Louis Vuitton, and in fact, are counterfeit. Louis Vuitton did not grant permission to Mr. Ross or to whoever did make the sunglasses to use our trademarks. The second is that no affiliation, sponsorship or association exists between Rick Ross or XXL and Louis Vuitton. The third is that counterfeiting is illegal.

I was flipping through the channels and happened to stumble across the movie: Foxy Brown. In the movie Foxy Brown was in love with an under cover officer who was killed in the movie over trying to take down drug lords and kingpins.
